Pakistan could have drowned Zimbabwe in the shame of whitewash if they had won the last match of the three-match ODI series. However, the Zimbabweans got a thrilling victory in the Super Round match.
In the tied match, Iftikhar Ahmed returned to the dressing room with the first ball of Blessing Mujarabani batting in the super over. Pakistan can take only 2 runs in the next two balls. Khushdil Shah was out in the fourth ball. The target in front of Zimbabwe was only 3 runs.
The Zimbabweans had no trouble taking this run. Brendon Taylor took one run off the first ball of Shaheen Afridi's over. Although he did not run in the next ball, Sikander Raja hit four in the third ball to lead the team to victory.
Earlier on Tuesday (November 3), Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat in Rawalpindi. Centurion Taylor of the previous match scored 58 runs from 8 balls in the moment of disaster of the team. Williams was unbeaten on 116 off 135 balls with 13 fours and 1 six. In the end, Raja accompanied him by scoring 45 runs from 36 balls.
Mohammad Hasnain took 5 wickets for Pakistan with 26 runs in 10 overs. Wahab Riaz took the rest of the wicket.
Batting at the target of 289 runs, Pakistan was on the verge of victory with the help of Babar Azam's great batting. Haider Ali and Mohammad Rizwan could not accompany him but Riaz stood with the bat. Mujarabani broke the 100-run partnership in the 48th over. Riaz (52) returned to the dressing room for the seventh wicket for 251 runs.
Pakistan needed 20 runs in the last two overs to win. Centurion Babar hit a six off Mujarabani's second ball in the 49th over. However, Mujarabani sent Shaheen Afridi and Babar back to the pavilion with the last two balls. Pakistan captain Babar's 125 off 125 balls was arranged in 13 fours and one six.
In the end, Muhammad Musa (9) and Mohammad Hasnain (3) could not complete the rest of the work. Pakistan lost 9 wickets for 26 runs. Due to the tie, the match ended in a super over.
