Senegal is now the first African country to qualify for the 2021 African Cup of Nation which will be held in Cameroon. Although the tournament will not take place in 2021 as it has been postponed to January 2022 due to Covid-19 pandemic
Sadio Mane scored the winning goal against Guinea-Bissau in the 82nd minute to book their place in the tournament. Senegal is in group I which comprises of Congo, Guinea-Bissau and Eswatini and have won all their four matches.
They won their first game against Congo in November 17, 2019 with a 2-0 victory. They also recorded a 4-1 victory in their second game against Eswatini in November 17, 2019. They also won their first leg 2 nil against Guinea-Bissau which was their third game and they won their return leg tie with a 1-0 victory which took place yesterday, putting Senegal at the top of the table with 12 points
They have picked up a maximum 12 points from their four matches in Group I and have successfully qualifies with two games to spare. Aside the host nation, Cameroon, Senegal is the first team to qualify for the tournament
