The Big Bash League (BBL) is entering a new era again. The tenth edition of this year's T20 tournament in Australia has three new additions: Power Surge, X-Factor and Bash Bush.
Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday (November 17th) confirmed the three new additions to make the BBL more attractive and exciting.
Power surge
From the tenth edition of BBL, there will be no regular 6-over power-play. Instead, there will be a mandatory 4-over power play at the beginning of the innings. The batting team will be able to take the power-play of their remaining two overs in any time from 11 overs. These two overs will be called Power Surge.
X-factor
Super Sub is back in cricket. But with new skin. After 10 overs of the first innings, both the teams will be able to bring change in the replacement XI. In that case the substitute cricketer has to be the twelfth or thirteenth player in the list. The new addition to the X-Factor is that only cricketers who have not batted or bowled more than one over in the first 10 overs can be replaced.
Bash Boost
From now on in BBL, there will be a chance to win four points, not two points. However, the previous three points are only for winning the match. The remaining one point will be determined after 10 overs of the second innings. Named 'Bash Boost'. Both teams will have a chance to win this one point. The team that has more runs at the end of the first 10 overs of the innings will basically get this bash boost point.
