High School sports will take on a whole different look - and schedule - this school year as districts struggle with re-opening in the midst of a continued Coronavirus pandemic.
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors last week announced its intended plans for the 2020-21 school year. The plan has been sent to the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) for final approval.
The Rotary Sports Awards Dinner, which honours Sault Ste. Marie’s sportsperson of the year with the H.P. Broughton Trophy, was originally scheduled for June 9.
With restrictions in place due to COVID-19, the plan for this year is to go with a pre-recorded event.
In an email on Friday, Rotary Sports Awards committee member Dan Sharp confirmed the plan to record the ceremony on June 9.
