The Frenchman who is undoubtedly one of the best midfielder in the world was signed from juventus in 2016 with a huge £89 million which is unarguably the higest transfer in England at that moment.
Mourinho saw a lot of potential in the young and skillful midfielder whom is projected to keep and add to the balance of the teams midfield and of course to the attack. And judging with reality, Paul Pogba is actually that player with prowess.
A strong midfielder with a strong foot, dribbling skills who is also popular for his dangerous long pass accuracy which has created more chances in unbelievable times for his team, that's an example of who Paul Pogba is. But now, what's wrong with our £89 million asset?
It all started during the Jose Mourinho's era when there seems to be a lot of coach-player disagreement and arguments. Paul Pogba's performance was a lot reduced that time and a lot of fan was not worried as it seemed obvious the former Juventus player was doing all that on purpose probably to show how unsatisfied he was with their manager (Jose Mourinho).
Fast forward to when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over, Paul's performance immediately revived out of nowhere as the midfielder was consecutively dishing out a lot of unbelievable passes and goals. That happened for some months until Paul started the attitude of joggling with the ball until it's lost to the opponent.
Last season, Pogba has lost his possession of ball to opponent more times than ever in his career, and this has made the fans to believe that over confidence has now taken over the Frenchman. Let there be no mistake, Pogba always deliver, but the attitude of losing balls more times than normal before has been added to the list of the player's ability, and a lot of fans are not seeing that as cool.
It was a lot more surprising that the Frenchman is now losing his position in the line ups recently under their current manager which has seen a lot of views from people all over the world and former Old Trafford players included.
What caught more people's attention is the last clash against Everton where the midfielder was missing in Solskjaer's line up. Such an important match and Pogba is not even given a playtime? Maybe he was later substituted when the match is 8 mins away from being concluded. Well as to that, former Manchester United player, Gary Neville has this to say,
“I still think it’s absolutely disgraceful that Pogba can’t get in that team".
“For United to win a league, for United to be successful, for United to play the style of football that Ole wants them to play, then Pogba has to play"
“You can play one of them [Nemanja] Matic, Fred or [Scott] McTominay and then you play Pogba with Fernandes.”
Well, even though he was backed by some fans, a lot of fans think Neville is wrong. Pogba is a player Ole has assigned more playtime to ever since he's taken over as the United boss. He understands that Paul is a player with a lot of abilities but tackling is not one of it. He's designed to create passes, goals, and of course increase the teams chemistry when on a pitch but running around to claim and win a ball from opponents compared to the likes of Fred or McTominay is not included in the players ability and which is the obvious thing Ole wanted that day, says a fan.
Personally as a United fan, I think Pogba need to look within and see what's missing, especially now that we have the likes of Bruno stealing away some opportunity from him under the current manager. The thing is, it's not just about having the qualities, it's about how dedicated you are to put it into use. Pogba has been the type with the big boy kind of style, and it's obvious Ole is not a fan.
What do you guys think? Is Ole wrong for not including him in the line up against Everton?(which later ended up as a win for them), Or Neville is right?
Will be glad to hear your view guys
