Host Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Australian openers provided a great start. David Warner and Aaron Finch made brilliant fifties. Aaron Finch departed after scoring 60 runs. Suresh Iyer brilliant throw ended Warner brilliant innings. Warner scored 83 runs. Steve Smith purple patch continue. He made brilliant century. He scored 104 runs. His inning was furnished with fourteen four and two sixes. Australia scored 114 runs in last 10 overs. Labuschagne 70 runs and Maxwell 63 runs in just 29 balls helped Australia to post a mammoth total of 389 runs on board in alloted 50 overs.
Indian openers Myank Agerwal and Dhawan provided a solid start. Australia picked the first wicket when Dhawan departed after scoring 30 runs. Agerwal was next to go. He made 28 runs. Shryes Iyer and Virat Kholi steadied the Indian ship. They built a partnership of 93 runs. Iyer departed after scoring 38 runs. Moise Henriques brilliant catch ended Virat Kholi stay at the crease. Kholi played a brilliant inning of 89 runs.
Wickets fall at regular interval. K L Rahul inning of 76 runs and Jadeja quick score 24 runs were unenough for India to chase down a target of 390 runs. India managed to score 338 runs in alloted 50 overs. Australia won the match by 51 runs. For Australia Pat Cummins picked three wickets. With this win Australia won the series by 2 - 0.
