The season just started and we are in already for the 4th week. It's hard to predict who will be crowned at the end of the season because a lot can change so quickly. I don't think we would see any big changes or surprises but these five players should be looked after:
Mohammed Salah.
He is always up there with his goals and I don't think the struggle he is feeling now would have any major impact on that. I haven't seen him hit the ground running as we have been used to but it's only a matter of time. My shock was when he failed to hit the back of the net despite his team scoring 9 goals against Bournemouth. I would never have imagined or saw that coming by a stretch. He would be judged by a lot of things and many people would feel that with Mane gone, he should be easier for him. At this point I have to admit that Mane was a competition for him in a good way, that fuels him to want to raise the bar. Let's hope that Luis Diaz and Darwin with Firmino can give him that competition this time around for him to raise the bar.
A lot is expected of this guy especially with the new contract and Mane gone. Mane has hit the ground running already for Bayern Munich. I think it's normal for Salah to sometimes delay in hitting the ground running but we can't deny the obvious talent of Salah to be up there and not further behind at the end of the season.
Haaland.
This is one player I was unsure of before the season started. Not because I doubt his talent but because it's either he flop or hit the ground running. He has hit the ground running and he won't stop. The way he handles defenders, beat them for pace, position himself and finish his chances, he will be a handful for defenders and I am worried when Manchester United meets City.
A lot can doubt him but he has shown that his mentality is not causal. He is strong and determined. His first hattrick against Crystal Palace showed his mental strength and determination. I don't think anyone should rule him out. He would be up there if not win the golden boot this season. It's scary to think that he is just 22 years old. Someone joked and said this guy isn't normal. He must have been formed inside the lab 😂.
Darwin.
One of the many things I admire about this guy is his ability to fight for every ball. I love his aggressiveness and his desire to always get to the end of every ball. He wants the ball always and wants to impress. I believe if he played in the 9-0 thumping of Bournemouth he would have scored his hattrick when Salah got missing. I see him up there at the end of the season. He is in the list of my top 5 goalscorers by the end of the season. I can't wait for him to come back from his suspension and set the stage on fire.
Harry Kane.
What can I say about this young man that isn't obvious to everyone yet? His talent is obvious and as I would always call him, he is Mister Tottenham. He carries the team on his shoulders and when he is not performing the team struggles. When he is at his best you can expect opponents to be on the back foot. I think the uncertainty about his future has been cleared up and with that he is enjoying support on the pitch and his mind is clear. With this clear mind I expect him to use that stability to be in the top 5 goalscorers this season.
Son.
This is Harry Kane's partner in crime and on his days, this guy can be unplayable. I still see him up there with the rest of these guys and I didn't make this list based on how I think they would finish. This list is in no particular order but I expect these 5 players to be up there at the end of the season on the chart, barring any long term injury.
Son is a strong player, skillful and with a eye for goal. He knows how to play with others as well as being focused on scoring too. His performances last season wasn't a fluke and I expect the same effort from him this season.
