Football can be humbling and Fantasy Premier League, more so. To think I was lamenting about leaving Almiron on the bench with the 15 points tally he got last week sitting on my bench with no bench boost. I made yet another silly mistake with 10 points Hugo Lloris sitting on the bench with no bench boost too.
I said last week that I wouldn't have known how they would perform and rightly so but I could have weighed the opponents they want to play to make better decisions. At least, with the hat trick Foden got last time again Manchester United, I made sure I quickly included him in my team because he is in form. From now on, I would always weigh the opponents before picking my lineup.
It was another week where I should have gotten better points but it didn't happen again but I would take my points over what I've been many people get. I'm glad I added Foden to the team. His combination with Haaland is getting worrisome for the Premier League and knowing how young and good he is, he has been rewarded with a new 3 years contract.
Cancelo is another phenomenal player and he scored in brilliant goal over the weekend. There is this Guardiola's effect on this Manchester City team makes everyone just live up to the expectations of the coach. This shows the players are learning and can tweak where necessary.
Newcastle's performance gave me points too but the issue with having three Newcastle United players would be when they lose. I hope the players I selected can stand out individually to make it easier for me.
It's fun feeling like a manager week in and week out... selecting players and kicking the ones that underperform out while going through a pool of players with a limited budget to pick from. The problem is, you don't own these players 🤣 because other managers have them too unlike real-life scenarios. It's always fun to play and see how you react when the week didn't go as planned. You have to come up with how to make up for points every week.
Football is dynamic and I love everything that speaks football. I love the learning, the banter and the mixed emotions that come with winning or losing. It will draw something from you no doubt. I'm not a fan of those who take football to the extreme. It's a sport, and emotions are at stake but we shouldn't forget situation change in football and even with life.
I've read situations where football turned bloody and at that point, football doesn't even matter anymore because lives are not at stake. Life is too steep a price to pay for any kind of sport and it shouldn't be. We are first humans, we owe that bond to ourselves first before any other thing. We should not forget that those who got killed in this also have little kids, wives, husbands and family members that depend on them. We can do better so let's just enjoy our sport.
Cheers.
