There was a lot of action in international football today, UEFA Nations League qualifiers, African Cup qualifiers and of course a few friendly international games. Here I was only able to watch the game between Mexico and South Korea being played in Austria. It is good to see how CONCACAF (North America, Central America and Caribbean) are doing against nations from other confederations.
Also Mexico is the benchmark for this area as normally it is the best team in the area, with the best facilities best minor league programs and frankly they do spend a lot of money improving their football, so I really had to watch this game especially since I believe Mexico has never had as many players in top flight European teams as now, and players that are leaving their marks in the teams they play for, like Jimenez in Wolverhampton and Corona in Porto.
The game began as I expected it would with Mexico playing their usual game of controlling the ball and the spaces well, this led to Mexico having three clear scoring chances in the first nineteen minutes but as is usually the case when you miss the other team takes advantage of this. On the twentieth minute South Korea counterattacked and on their first shot at goal scored. A very well played counterattack with Tottenham's Son feeding Hwang for the first goal of the match. The first half ended with South Korea ahead and after the goal the match was pretty well even.
In the second half Mexico started turning things back and before the 70 minute they were ahead thanks to three goals scored by Jimenez, Antuna and Salcedo all in the lapse of three minutes. South Korea was able to score a goal on the 87 minute but by then it was too late, Mexico won 3-2.
