The big news in sports, well at least in football is Lionel Messi's wish to leave Barcelona the only team he has ever played in. Now I want to be clear I have never been the great Messi fan but undoubtedly he is one of football's greatest players, he has proved it over and over.
And now he wants to leave Barcelona for new horizons. This is already making a big problem for Barcelona, but i think it is Ok, anyway Messi is getting on in years and Barcelona has to face, now, what they will be post Messi. For me it is the logical move for both, but yes, Barcelona will feel it much more than Messi.
As for Messi, what does he get out of this? I am sure that Messi neither has or will have money problems he is a multimillionaire and apparently he handles his money well. So now he has to do what he is short of doing. He needs to be World champion with Argentina which would be probably his last attempt in 2022, and the other one is one he really needs to do. He needs to prove, without objections, that he is one of the greatest by getting what he won in Barcelona in another team.
Can he do this? Well the team that is most likely to get him is Manchester City, and they would become, I think nearly invincible, even with an aging Messi. This would be good for Messi, as he could prove one or two things and for Manchester City it would mean getting a ready made fan base, the people who are just followers of Messi, and there area lot of them.
So I really expect to see Messi in another club, preferably Manchester City, I would like to see that team with Kevin de Bruyne and Messi, and what the attackers like Sterling or Jesus would be able to do. Yes, I think we are going to see some amazing football in England if Messi goes there. And remember I am a Liverpool fan, so I would just like this to be able to watch some great football every week.
