Sadly I will be working during the Titans game this weekend. Gotta make the money though, no room to complain. Perhaps one day I'll be financially independent enough to never miss a game. Perhaps one day I'll have enough of an income to be at every single game in person, with my son. That would be the life.
Nevertheless this game against the Lions is HUGE this Sunday. The Titans can reach double digit wins for the first time since 2008, and more importantly they may be able to clinch a spot in the playoffs with some help!
It's a nice feeling knowing the Titans can be more in control of their playoff destiny with three weeks left rather than just squeaking in on the very last game of the season like in recent years. Don't get me wrong, making the playoffs and having winning seasons is still a pretty good feeling! Still a lot of fun seasons over the years.
How can the Titans clinch a playoff spot this weekend?
- Titans win against the Lions, plus a Ravens loss.
- Ravens play the Jaguars. Overall, the Ravens should get the win. But the Jags are scrappy and who knows, it could be a trap game for the Ravens.
- Titans win against the Lions, plus a Raiders loss or tie, plus a Dolphins loss, plus a Browns win or tie.
- Interestingly, the Raiders are playing as I write this and they are tied with the Chargers. Even more interestingly, former Titans QB Marcus Mariota is actually in the game playing for an injured Derek Carr. Close game, wonder how it will finish.
- The Dolphins have got a super tough game against the Patriots. That game could go either way.
- The Browns have an interesting matchup against the Giants. The Browns should win but the NFC East has been playing much better in recent weeks with a weak division that's still up for grabs.
- In the third and final scenario for the Titans to clinch a playoff spot in Week 15, once again obviously the Titans must beat the Lions, the Raiders must lose or tie, the Dolphins must lose, and the Titans or Browns clinch strength of victory tiebreaker over the Dolphins. (Honestly, that last one is confusing for sure.)
So what do you think of the Titans' chances to clinch? The Raiders-Chargers game is coming down to the wire...
Either way I hope luck is on the Titans side.
Bottom line is the Titans must WIN.
