The fans returns! – What a game of football to celebrate the return of fans even though it is just two thousand of them, it shows progress and a move in the right direction as we anticipate the return of a full stadium. What a game of football at the bridge and what a win for Chelsea to go top of the league. According to some of the Chelsea players, this is probably the most intense game they have played this season, the amount of running Leeds does on the pitch, makes it incredibly difficult for the teams they face, however, Chelsea players showed the qualities to absorb all that and dominate the most parts of the game. This could have been a much more comfortable win for Chelsea had they converted most of the chances in the game, but in the end, the late goal made it even more interesting as they earn a solid win at home, welcoming the beloved fans back at the bridge.
This was a very interesting game to watch, I enjoyed every bit of the match. Chelsea are really showing their qualities and have shown so far that they are more than capable of playing against teams who like to attack aggressively as well. Leeds are a very tough team to play against and they have taken points from some of the top teams they have played against and almost got a result against Liverpool, the current premier league champion. The game began and Chelsea started with a high tempo from the get go and nearly put themselves in front… However, it was Leeds who took the lead very early in the game, Chelsea got punished very early in the game from a very good counter attack by Leeds. What a good goal by Leeds to put themselves in front that early in the game.
Similar to the Sheff United game, Chelsea didn’t even look worried after going 1 goal down very early in the game as they kept doing their thing and we all knew the goal would come it was just a matter of time. Chelsea finally got the deserved equalizer on the 27th minute… A very good goal by Giroud who continued his form, fantastic play by Chelsea to open up Leeds for Reece James to put in the kind of cross we know he is capable of, to find Giroud who slides home to equalize for Chelsea. The first half ended 1-1. The second half began and Chelsea took the game and dominated a lot of the match. Even though Chelsea dominated most of the game and rightfully should have scored a lot more, Leeds looked like a team that could get something out of the game especially at 2-1… but once again Chelsea’s qualities shown through yet again… what a counter at the 90+3 minute to give themselves the cushion lead and seal the win at home.
