Now that we've reviewed the fixtures from a defensive viewpoint, today we're going to look at the teams that we believe have the best opening 5 fixtures of this season's Premier League from an attacking point of view.

Manchester City and Liverpool

As with the defence, Man City and Liverpool are 2 teams that we should be opting for at the start of the season. Although their home and away fixtures align, they also provide a nice alternation for captaincy picks if you're considering having 2 premium options - Salah and Haaland appearing to be popular amongst the community.

Fulham (a), Bournemouth (h), Newcastle (a), Bournemouth (h) and Notts Forest (h) is a nice opening run of captaincy opponents.

If it's a difficult decision to choose a captain between the 2 (which Gameweek 5 appears to be), it's worth considering that Man City tend to outperform their xG more than Liverpool do so might tip the balance in a Man City player's favour.

A Trio from London

Next up but still some way behind come Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.

All 3 have or are in the process of bolstering their attacking options having posted some decent attacking numbers last season.

Spurs

Tottenham's acquisitions of Ivan Perišić and Yves Bissouma might signal 2 defensive transfers but we're aware of Perišić's attacking threat. They're likely to confirm Richarlison who will give the squad additional depth as we don't expect Son, Kulusevski or Kane to make way for the Brazilian. The potential for rotation or early substitutions is never appealing from an FPL perspective though.

Chelsea

Although no incoming transfers have been confirmed yet, the loaning of Lukaku could benefit Kai Havertz who could well be classified as a Forward in 2022/23. Rumours of Raheem Sterling and Raphina joining the blues are still circulating and are worth monitoring.

Arsenal

With Eddie Nketiah signing a long term deal, the transfer of Gabriel Jesus just a few days later is perhaps a surprising move. You'd think that Nketiah would have been guaranteed plenty of playing time given his end to last season but Jesus's signing suggests that this won't be the case - he wouldn't have moved from Man City without the guarantee of being Arsenal's focal point in attack.

Jesus did well on the right wing for Man City without the pressure of scoring goals so this is something else to monitor during pre-season.

Best Mid-Price / Budget Options

Whilst we don't have player prices yet, this is a bit of a "best guess" exercise based upon prices from previous seasons.

Brighton

Brighton are the highest "budget" team in our rankings but given their inability to take their chances, we'd want to see something change before considering them too seriously. The loss of Yves Bissouma could also be significant and there are rumours that Marc Cucurella could also be leaving in the summer (to Manchester City).

Denis Undav's arrival from Royal Union Saint-Gilloise could solve the problem when it comes to finishing chances and could be worth a look if he's kindly prices.

Brentford

The stats suggest that Brentford could have a difficult season and we think that much of this will depend upon whether they can keep Christian Eriksen. He's a player that's consistently done well in FPL and whilst at Brentford, there's hope that he'll be kindly priced.

With Toney a popular (if not disappointing) pick last season and Yoanne Wissa having a fine end to the season, we're hopeful that if Brentford do struggle, it'll be more to do with their defence than their attack.

Wolves

It's a tough job to get anybody excited about Wolves' attacking assets as they often appear towards the bottom of the goal scoring charts. Raul Jimenez had a terrible season as Wolves ended by scoring just 38 goals - Jimenez their top scorer with 6.

The positive spin though is the return of Pedro Neto - often the catalyst for Wolves. He spent almost the entire of last season out injured and if he can get a good pre-season in to build up match fitness and confidence, he's another one worth considering.

West Ham

The final team that we'll look at is West Ham. Despite a difficult start against Man City (a team they often score against), they have a few players that could be of interest. Jarrod Bowen had a fantastic season whereas Michael Antonio disappointed. Antonio has been such a reliable FPL performer and could be a good selection until the fixture congestion from European football takes its toll again.
