Did you or do you have a favorite non-star player?

A guy who gets the job done with no hot dogging or showboating, just a steady, dependable player.

My old time favorite is the Yankees left fielder Roy White from the late 60s/70s. Great fielder, good hitter with some power and just did the job day in and day out.

White was any managers dream. Write his name on the lineup card every day and then worry about your other positions. He was also my mom’s favorite player. In the 90s, I would go with Jorge Pasada and Paul O’Neill because of their intensity.

It is hard to think of someone better. Perhaps Bobby Richardson of the Mantle era Yankees presents a similar team player image.
