Andrea Iannone

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini MotoGP racer, Andrea Iannone, was officially found guilty by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the doping case that has plagued him since 17 December 2019. Andrea Iannone was initially suspended for 18 months by the FIM Disciplinary Commission on April 1, 2020. The sentence was in effect from December 17th, which is the date his urine test was performed. Then the Andrea Iannone doping case enter a new chapter. The MotoGP rider was given a four-year race ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Aprilia racer was declared to have failed a doping test after his urine sample tested positive for banned substances, containing anabolic steroids. Since then, Iannone has always insisted on accidentally consuming the forbidden substance through meat consumption.

Then after that Andrea Iannone also appealed to CAS, at the same time the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) also did the same. WADA wants the sentence of the 31-year racer to be increased to four years. After holding the trial, the CAS concluded that Iannone remained guilty. CAS even approved WADA's appeal and imposed a four-year suspension on the Italian.

Andrea Iannone was unable to provide any convincing evidence to establish that his ADRV (Anti-doping Rule Violation) was not intentional, the CAS statement summarized as reported by Crash.

Accordingly, the Panel finds that Andrea Iannone's ADRV should be deemed intentional for the purposes of the anti-doping rules, and therefore enforces the WADA appeal.

Aprilia previously left one driver seat for next season vacant while awaiting CAS decision. But now they have to find other riders, with names like Andrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, and Bradley Smith being linked.

Andrea Iannone has raced a total of 118 times in the primary class, with one win, 11 podiums and two poles.

This is the information regarding Andrea Iannone being suspended for 4 years from MotoGP due to a doping case. I hope this information is useful.
