in blurtrides •  4 years ago

The motorcycle registration process in Bangladesh is a very troublesome and complicated matter. We, Team Bike-BD, often face various questions due to the complexity of this issue. And the BRTA's motorcycle registration system often undergoes minor changes, and there are significant differences between the different zones. Changes and apparent differences are seen mainly due to the lack of short and simple methods. However, we try our best to answer your questions in judging the situation.

But for some time now we have been facing a lot of questions about the current conventional motorcycle registration process; Because in the very near future, an announcement has been made by our government that from January 1, no vehicle or motorcycle will be allowed on the road without a digital number plate. That is the main reason why we have come before you today with the current motorcycle registration process in Bangladesh. Without further ado, let's try to find the answers to your questions as well as the whole process.

Collection of required documents:
If you want to register your own motorcycle, you need to collect all the necessary documents for its registration as soon as you buy the motorcycle. And now the registration system is such that if you want to register with a dealer, you still have to give time to many things, maybe in some cases it can be more troublesome. So as soon as you buy a bike, understand the rest of the papers including the import related paper. For example,
All import related papers
Customs clearance
Gate side
VAT-11 (both importer and dealer)
Treasury Invoice (both importer and dealer; from Sonali Bank)
Cash-memo
Photocopy of buyer's voter ID card
You will need to collect the entire set of paper from the dealer. The same goes for buying an old bike without registration. Otherwise you will not be able to register. And dealers often give incomplete paperwork so that the buyer gets in trouble while registering, and again seeks refuge with the dealer, and registers through them in exchange for some extra money. However, we felt it was better to work through a dealer than to catch a broker in BRTA. However, it is true that registering a motorcycle with the BRTA is actually quite a hassle and a tedious task. However, if you want to register your own bike, you will surely learn something from it and you will probably enjoy the hassle.

However after you have collected the complete set of paper for registration collect the three page vehicle registration form from BRTA office or their website. Fill out the form with applicant and vehicle information. This form is your application form, along with all other paperwork. Have the application form checked with all your paperwork at the concerned BRTA office. If any paper is omitted or additional paper is required, the BRTA officer will inform you. If the paperwork is correct, they will give you an assessment form which is actually a money deposit slip for depositing a certain amount of money mentioning the sector of the relevant fee; Through which you will deposit the registration money in the bank or in the respective booth. And don't forget to take the official seal and signature on this form.

Bank Deposit:
This is the second step in the registration process. You deposit money through the assessment slip written by them at your respective BRTA directed bank or booth. Here they will also keep the active phone number you used in BRTA's database. And with the deposit, they will give you a special money receipt printed on a computer. You will attach the money receipt to your application.

Application submitted to BRTA:
Submit your application along with the deposit receipt by depositing money in the bank at the registration desk at BRTA. A vehicle-inspector will inspect your motor vehicle along with your papers upon submission of your application. Upon his inspection, BRTA will authorize your paper and issue a printed acknowledgment slip, fitness and tax-token along with the new registration number. Do not forget to provide your active mobile number with your contacts at this time. This is very important. After getting the mentioned papers, you can legally take your motorcycle out on the road, but you have to complete the rest of the process of getting the digital blue book and number plate.

Digital Blue Book, Number Plate:
After receiving your acknowledgment slip, fitness and tax-token, a special message will be sent to the mobile number provided by you immediately after or at the specified time to collect your biometric identity i.e. your photo, handprint and signature. You provide your biometrics by appearing at BRTA at the time indicated in the received message. And with this process, you have completed all the registration process on your behalf.

Blue-book and number plate collection:
After giving your biometric identity you will have to wait for the next message from BRTA. So always keep your provided mobile active. In this case, the applicant is usually given a message with the date and time within a month. And after receiving the message, you collect your blue book and number plate from the concerned BRTA.

So friends, this was the current process of motorcycle registration in Bangladesh. But one more important thing you asked us, we think we need to discuss it separately. The point is that according to a recent official announcement, from January 1, old registered motorcycles without RFID digital number plates will no longer be able to ride. In this case, you need to apply for RFID digital number plate and smart-card registration. Let's see the process for this.

RFID number plate, smart card:
For this number plate and registration card you need to follow the steps below.

Collect an assessment slip (Money Deposit Slip) from BRTA and fill in the information of the owner of the motorcycle and the corresponding motorcycle according to the current blue-book.
Get the seal and signature of the BRTA officer by putting the relevant fees and charges on the assessment slip.
Deposit the money along with the assessment slip in the specified bank. There you need to provide an active mobile number. The bank will deposit your money and give you a computer printed money receipt.
You submit a copy of your old blue-book with the BRTA copy of the Money Receipt to the BRTA.
Within a few days of submitting the paper, a message from BRTA will come to your given mobile number to give your biometric identity i.e. photo, handprint and signature.
Provide your biometrics to BRTA on the day indicated in the message.
If your digital number plate and smart registration card are ready within a few days of giving your biometrics, BRTA will send you a message to collect it along with the date.
After receiving the BRTA message, you should come to the concerned office with your motorcycle, copy of old blue book and money deposit slip and collect your new RFID number plate and smart registration card.
This process is usually completed within a month, but if you are late you can call 6969 or send an NP A 00 message in this format NP space A space Date to ask for an appointment (00 is the date of the message), giving you further instructions in the return message There will be.
BRTA's current smart registration card fee is Rs 2,200.00 and RFID number plate fee is Rs 540.00. However, a total of Rs 2,615.00 has to be deposited along with 15% VAT on all fees and charges. Also, as far as we know, since 15% VAT has been implemented in all registrations after 2010, many people who did not have to pay any VAT on registration at that time will have to re-submit that VAT to the bank. There is no way to avoid it. Because in the database of BRTA, the money is mentioned as arrears against the relevant registration number which will not be credited to the software without paying any new fee.

Friends, these were the details of the motorcycle registration process in Bangladesh. We hope our detailed discussion will help you register your new bike and follow the newly issued official instructions. We have tried to highlight the whole process in general. However, over time, this process varies from BRTA to zone; Yet the basic process is the same everywhere. We hope you will share with us the real experiences you have gained in your field so that others can learn and follow the process with more confidence. Thanks everyone.
