Low RON gasoline use in high power engines

The engine will not start fast. Even pulling the choke lever during hot weather does not make it easy to start. There will be no proper combustion in the engine and black smoke will come out in the silencer. The sound of the engine will become hoarse and the piston will jerk, knocking sound will come out of the valve and connecting rod. Even if the mileage increases, the engine will quickly overheat. The engine will vibrate and the throttle will not respond quickly. The maximum speed will not rise exactly. The spark plug will become oily and carbonized and the engine will misfire.

Use of adulterated gasoline

Most of the time in our country pure fuel is not available. We have to use adulterated fuel. In the case of diesel-powered engines, adulterated fuel does not pose such a problem. But in the case of gasoline engines (low cc fine engines) like motorbikes, adulterated fuel has a very bad effect. Many times we do not have to do anything in this case. In such a situation, RON rating is unthinkable. And using adulterated fuels that are:

1 engine will not start quickly. Even in hot weather, it may take more than one attempt to pull the choke.

2 The engine may misfire due to lack of proper combustion. Exhaust can emit black smoke.

3 Throttle response slows down. Back force may be created while accelerating.

4 The engine may make a croaking noise. There will be hiccups on the piston, piston rings, valves and knocking from the connecting rod.
5 The engine will vibrate.

6 At high speeds the engine may suddenly stop.
7 Maximum speed will not be possible.

The engine will lose smoothness.

You can be more sure when you see:

1 The spark plug is becoming more and more carbonized.

2 The spark plug will burn and turn black (if proper combustion is done with pure fuel it will be spark plug ash or brown in color).

3 The spark plug will become oily. (If the fuel is good, it will not be oily)

4 The spark plug will break quickly.
5 cylinder head, piston head, valve will also become carbonized quickly.

The sound of the exhaust will change and even if it is a 4-stroke bike, black smoke will come out.

In the case of 4-stroke bikes, oily smoke will come out through the exhaust pipe. (2-stroke is always oily smoke)
If this happens the carbonized parts need to be cleaned and the engine oil needs to be changed. And of course you have to unscrew the bottom screw of the carburetor and discard the adulterated fuel.

Testing the effectiveness of gasoline

There is no way to determine the purity of gasoline without a laboratory. However, it is possible to be sure about the adulteration by looking at the above symptoms. Moreover, you can test the effectiveness of gasoline yourself. Collect a small amount of gasoline (petrol or octane). Rub a little gasoline on the palm of your hand and rub it with both hands.

Once the fuel has evaporated, take a good look at the palm of your hand. If the palate is dry then understand, gasoline is pure. But if the palate is wet or oily, it must be understood that the gasoline was adulterated. If you dry your hands, you will understand that gasoline was mixed with kerosene, diesel or turpentine.

There is another way, take a few drops of gasoline on a steel plate. Now light the match stick and throw it in it. Check the plate when the gasoline is burned and the temperature of the plate is normal. If the plate is oily, Shuke will understand what was mixed in the gasoline.

So readers, hopefully this article will help you understand the difference between octane vs petrol. Sincere thanks for your patience. If you have any comments, suggestions, additions or more, please feel free to contact me.
