What kind of clothes should a motorcyclist wear in winter?

Winter is a normal step in the change of seasons. A biker must know what kind of clothes he should wear as a motorcyclist in winter? In our country, the seasons usually do not change until December. But the biggest victims of the change of seasons on the road are the drivers. A car can go through rain, cold or even ACO for heating. But a biker has to suffer in the heat, get wet in the rain and even get cold in winter.

None of this happens because of the open seat on the back of the bike. There are not many facilities to choose winter clothes in Bangladesh at present so today we will try to understand what kind of clothes should be used in winter so that we can get some comfort while riding bikes in the bone-chilling winter of December.

Suppose you are riding a bike at 60 kilometers per hour on a winter night in December. This means that the bone-chilling wind is hitting your body at a speed of about 80-90 kmph and is slowly making your body numb which can be very dangerous while riding a bike.

The first thing a biker needs to know is that we basically wear three layers of clothing. The base layer that comes first in any situation means that we include everything inside our body, from the inner vest to the underwear. Wool and any fabric will work well in this case but the best performance can be seen by using different synthetics like polyester, rayon etc. Try wearing a synthetic shirt and the same applies to underwear.

Another part of the base layer is the mouza. The legs are the least covered part of the body. Shoes do not play an important role in retaining body heat but the body loses heat faster than other times if there are shoes. If a thick woolen mouza is worn with it, it may prevent the heat from escaping somewhat.

The second layer is normal clothing. Follow the same advice for this step. This is because cotton and other common yarns can breathe but not synthetics. So synthetic shirts can be preferred.

If it gets too cold you can wear your rain coat which will give you extra comfort and help you retain your body heat for a long time. So don’t buy it at a lower price. Many times bikes are given free rain coats which are really disgusting so get a good quality rain coat from Banglabazar or Bangla Motor as soon as possible.

Lots of winter gloves are available in the market. The longer the gloves, the longer they will be able to keep your hands cool. More than fifty percent of people have warm hands while riding a bike, but once the heat subsides, there are no gloves on the market that will return the heat to your hands. How is this possible? When you ride a motorcycle, your ability to hold heat is much less than that of other parts of the body. Especially your toes where the muscles are very inactive and also because they are very thin there can not be much heat accumulation. As a result the temperature tends to drop and you don’t realize it until it’s cold. You have two paths. You can plan to stop every hour, have a coffee or snack, check your tires, get some fuel or take a short walk.

Leather is always a good choice for a biker. If you have a lot of money to spend, you can buy a leather jacket that is enough to retain body heat. It has its own heat retention capacity and it can cut air well.

Last but not least is a good helmet and a pair of earmuffs that will protect the ears.

Hopefully these tips will help a motorcyclist choose the right clothes in winter.
