Car production is going to start in Bangladesh from the middle of 2021. Although the initial investment is 200 million US dollars, this investment will be released in phases to about 1 billion US dollars.
At present the construction work of the car factory is going on on 100 acres of land in Mirsarai Economic Zone of Chittagong. The factory will manufacture various types of trucks, pick-ups, sedans, sports utility vehicles and motorcycles with the technical assistance of the United States, China, Italy and India.
Bangladesh Auto Industries Limited, a Bangladeshi company, is jointly constructing the factory with foreign companies.
The important thing is that with the launch of this factory, for the first time in the country, about 80% of the parts of a car will be produced. Includes chassis, lithium battery, motor, software and body.
It is learned that the SUV will cost Tk 25 lakh among the cars made here. The price of the sedan car will be around 12 to 15 lakhs. Besides, the price of the motorcycles will be between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.
According to the company's market research, a market of 4 lakh cars will be created in the country by 2025. The company will build a 50-kilowatt battery for electric vehicles that will cost only Rs 400 to fully charge. Quick charging points will be set up on the country's highways. Battery life is 10 years.
So far there are several companies making motorcycles but there is no list of products manufactured in the country. Hopefully all the grief will probably go away soon. 'Made in Bangladesh' car will be launched in the market from 2021.
