Hi friend...
Hygiene is not being followed in public transport. Drivers, helpers and passengers have been told to wear masks, hand sanitizers, clean seats, hand gloves, etc., but public transport on various routes in the capital is not following the minimum hygiene rules. As a result, experts are expressing the risk of corona infection. In this situation, motorcycle based bike ride sharing service was introduced on the condition of following the hygiene rules. Rides can be shared on bikes subject to having an enlistment certificate from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

One thousand 156 bikes with enlistment registration for ride sharing have been allowed to share rides. In the early days of the Corona outbreak, the BRTA stopped ride-sharing services along with public transport in the capital on March 26. Although limited public transport was introduced on June 1, the ride-sharing service was closed. The company allowed the service to resume after more than five months.

BRTA Deputy Director (Engineering) Bimalendu Chakma signed an order allowing ride-sharing platforms to launch services. The order issued last Thursday said that the public transports have been allowed to transport as many passengers as there are seats from September 1. As such, motorcycle certified motorcycles will be able to provide ride sharing services. However, this service can be operated only in DTCA areas i.e. Dhaka and Gazipur metropolis, Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Narsingdi and Gazipur.

The order also gives detailed instructions on compliance with hygiene rules. It said drivers and passengers should wear masks, face shields, hand gloves and helmets of certain standards. At the beginning and end of the trip, passengers' belongings including helmets and motorcycles should be sprayed and disinfected. Other BRTA guidelines for public transport should also be followed.

BRTA also released a list of 1,158 bikes that received enlistment certificates in the order. Of these, Akash Technologies Limited has 93, Akij Online Limited has 108, Chaldal Limited has 96, CNS Limited has 44, Eziar Technologies Limited has 3, Eziar Technologies Limited has 9, Limited has 9 Limited, Ovai Solutions Limited has 9, Limited has 9 Limited, Pathi Limited has 925, Pathao Limited has 12. The bike gets enlistment registration.
