I have had several X5 and MDXs over the past a few years and far and away this is often the simplest SUV I even have ever had. It's an honest size vehicle with outstanding fit & finish inside and out.
The inside is well laid out, comfortable and roomy. I elected to travel with the Prestige version and that i am totally pleased with the security features, handling and Infotainment System. A beautiful, luxurious 3 row SUV that’s fun to drive? The Q7 has many room for our family of 5 and versatile seating. I used to be worried i used to be missing out on other brands (XC90) that had captains chairs, but seems folding the center seat down works even as well for my kids to access to 3rd row even when two child seats installed in 2nd row. I found the Q7 to be the right size 3 row SUV - not too bulky sort of a GLS. It moves fast and drives rather sporty for an SUV. The inside is completely stunning - leather, wood, and lighting. The tech is awesome. Despite tons of features, I found them intuitive to use. It's the simplest touch screen I’ve used with haptic feedback that feels closer to buttons. You'll customize tons of the tech too - including what's displayed in each screen and therefore the design of the instrument cluster. It's nice to possess Car Play google maps on the large screen, then control music on the instrument cluster screen. The driving force assistance works well and isn't annoying like in other cars I’ve driven.
Small item storage is lacking. Actually, I had more compartments within the 2013 A4 Allroad I traded in. Some stubborn German Designer didn't want to ruin his beautiful interior design with trays and compartments. The middle console is shallow and may only fit a phone, wallet, and sunglasses. There aren't any storage trays. The door pockets are an honest size, but awkward shaped. There's a hidden compartment to the left of the wheel , but it's also awkward. The glove box is little too. I had to shop for roll-up organizers to optimize the space. Very disappointing as i do know Mercedes does an honest job thereupon aspect of their designs - so a minimum of one German brand can catch on right for the US market.
The driver door rattles. I even have taken the car five times to urge fixed, two different dealers. The cash spend within the car shouldn't rattle. I prefer the car otherwise.
