The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car manufactured by the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) between 1981 and 1982. It is known as the DeLorean, since this was the only model that the company manufactured. The DMC-12 is characterized by its gull-wing doors and paint-free stainless steel metal body. He is well known for his appearance in the Back to the Future movie trilogy. After appearing in these three films, the DMC-12 became a cult object.3 4
The first prototype appeared in October 1976 and production officially began in 1981 at DMC's Dunmurry factory in Northern Ireland. During its production various aspects of the car were changed, such as the style of the hood, wheels and interior.
At least 8,500 DMC-12s were manufactured before production ended in 1982. In 2007, an estimated 6,500 of them still existed.3
