Motorcycles of the future- Of course, in the case of automobiles you can't expect less from a name that is the most iconic. The German giant has always been tempting auto buffs with such models that seem to be all about unprecedented importance and no different than 2020. Ready for launch this year is BMW Motors' Vision Next 100 which the bikes of the future should have with its cutting edge technology and incredibly stylish design. Probably the most buzzing feature is the addition of a balance reflex that will automatically stabilize the bike if it detects a nearby topple, which means you'll never read this beauty again!
BMW has a rich heritage of being the torchbearer for being the most innovative company of automotive industry and amply justifying it’s tagline of ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’, no matter the number of wheels. Therefore in order to celebrate a glorious century of making the most enjoyable vehicles on roads, BMW has come up with a number of vehicles which it sees will be responsible for human mobility by the year 2116. One of these un-hinged machines is the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 concept motorcycle, which was recently unveiled at a special event in California.
The BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 concept motorcycle is designed to showcase what a 2116 model year motorcycle could look like. The BMW Next 100 Motorcycle basically just enhances the technologies we’re currently using and puts it into a package that looks straight out of a Tron movie. The designers of the bike were given a free reign and they let their imagination run wild like a pack of wildebeests in African savannah, un-hindered by silly stuff like crooked bean-counters or pesky laws of physics.
The motorcycle looks like a shapeshifting futuristic machine, which consists of a mechanism through which the bike’s whole frame flexes to change the direction of the front wheel, instead of steering with a handlebar hooked up to a fork. As said earlier, the bike uses extensions of technologies which are taking baby steps right now or will be available in the near future, such as the Michelin ‘Tweel’, in which a rim and tire act as one unit, with the rim giving way to absorb bumps. The Beemer also does away with the instrument cluster as the riders will see this BMW’s hypothetical HUD through a pair of hi-tech goggles. Pretty dandy! eh? Wait till you read further.
BMW says that it aims to eliminate the need for a helmet altogether. How you ask? Well, they say that they hope to create ways to avoid the crash altogether, with all kinds of buzzers and alarms built into a special suit, which the rider will wear and parts of it will vibrate or light up when somebody’s in your blind spot or when you’re coming up on somebody too fast – just like the beeps and buzzes in a BMW car. That’s not all, the bike can hover–stand straight up even while static. The kickstand has to come down when it’s not running, but otherwise it stays erect at stoplights and pull-overs using gyroscopic sensors.
