That right there is the 1991 Honda NSX(which stands for New Sport eXperimental). They made this to try and compete with the Ferraris of the time like the 348.

When it came to the development of the NSX, they didn't spare no money. They employed the legendary Italian designers of Pininfarina to help design, develop and make the beautiful body on this 90s supercar. It's futuristic design was unlike anything else that came out of Japan at the time.

When it came to the interior, they said that they wanted to style it just like an American F16 fighter jet. It had no C pillars but it was still very stiff and rigid because of their extremely strong and light monocoque chassis.

Now lets talk about that glorious engine. What they did was combine VTEC from the Integra Type R and racetech from their Formula 1 team to create an all aluminium, glorious sounding 3.0 litre V6 churning out 270 bhp. It had forged pistons and for the first time in a production car the connecting rods were made from titanium.

They wanted it to handle like an F1 car while still having modern amenities like air conditioning, electric windows, traction control system and ABS. But putting of that in a steel body would make the car heavy and sluggish. So they made a very light aluminium monocoque chassis.

But then they hired legendary F1 racing driver Ayrton Senna to test it and he then said that it was too "fragile". Honda then spent 8 months making the chassis more rigid and in the process setup a long term test facility at the Nurburgring. The end result was a chassis 50% stiffer than the prototype and 40% light than one made from steel.

And it then went on to become one of the greatest handling, most affordable supercar ever.
