This is one of the first 500 American Motors Rebel Machines. The 390 cui, Hurst 4 speed, Kelsey Hayes Mags, Goodyear Poly tires, Am radio, hood tachometer and no other amenities. My first was # 7 and the other is #50. The second 500 made were also red/white and blue, but you could order those in automatic and other options. There were and additional 1200 made that could be ordered in any available color. The 70 Rebel Machine was made only one year. The Matador replaced the Rebel in 1971, and there were no Machines made after the 1970 year.
Yep we have an original that comes out to one of our show and parks next to my 69 amx and my buddy's 64 rambler guy thinks he's better then everyone.
It's a 1970 rebel machine only made 500 of them parents had one. 390, 340 stock horse power. Only lost one race in it G.T.X. 440 six pack, still only pulled it by a front end. Definitely fast car for it's time.
I once owned the race car "Mind Changer" it was a 66 AMC American. It was the inspiration for the AMC Scrambler, and many hi performance cars in the coming years from AMC.
