Unless you’ve been living in the wilderness you’ll know that there are currently 2 big trends in Horror -- The supernatural & zombies, and as much as I love both it has got to the point where I am wary about the films before viewing them. I will be honest with you, the only reason I actually watched Zombie Apocalypse is because of Ving Rhames, the man’s been making a big name for himself in Horror and you can’t deny how good he was in “Dawn Of The Dead” and I was shocked to hear his name involved in a made-for-tv movie.
The first thing that caught my eye was the sight of the actor Eddie Steeples, better known as ‘Crabman’ from “My Name Is Earl”, I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself when I witnessed him trying to kill zombies.
The film starts off very well, and actually has a great storyline, the description of different types of zombies is very clever and the characters are very well played. Also the use of different ammo is well talked about and answers quite a-lot of question we have when watching these films.
My problem with Zombie Apocalypse is that as the film goes on you are enjoying it, it is actually believable until you meet a group known as the “The Archers”. The main woman of this group looks like something out of a cartoon, with her fresh spiky hair-do (Which has stayed in-tact through out the whole apocalypse)
That aside I only have one more problem with it, the ending, it builds up to a great dramatic ending……. only to be ruined by VERY bad C.G.I. and that can ruin an entire film for me and you know what, it did! I was thoroughly enjoying it then some terrible computer generated animal went and spoilt the whole thing, don’t you just hate it when that happens!
This happens way too much for my liking and I know for a fact it’s never going to stop either, I just wish they’d realise that practical effects are so much better than what any computer can do. If you’re a fan on the zombie genre then it is worth a watch, just for entertainment value but don’t let it build you up and knock you down like it did to me.
