Matthew 10:8 (NIV)
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Blind spots are the areas where we allowed ourselves not to be changed. Areas where you wouldn't allow your faith to touch - a place where your faith is not touching and you won't even see it. It could be vengeance, it could be anger and it could be unforgiveness too.
Anger, hurts, pains and unforgiveness can create blind spots for you as humans. This is not about being good or bad people. This is never about what's right or wrong but about where love should be but you have allowed hate to eat you up so deep.
What is in your blind spot? Who is suffering in your blind spot for the lack of what you have chosen and refused to give? Shockingly, some people are nicer to strangers than they are to their own family members. They would rather extend a hand of courtesy to others than their own. They would rather help others than help those they can see in their fold. Who said you can't do both? How can you claim you love God and hate another? Just because you are gifted or anointed or you make a lot of money or you are successful doesn't make you right. You cannot substitute this world's cares for righteousness. If God measures the level of our faith by how we treat others, then how deep would yours be?
What we are expected to do as Christians is to reflect the mercy we have been given by God. The only reason why we have to be merciful is because we have been shown mercy too. While we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us. When we want to be judgemental, we should remember the mercy God has shown unto us through Jesus and we should just let it go. It might be hard but not impossible.
Matthew 11:29&30 (NIV)
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Mercy doesn't end with you but mercy begins with you. It is not about them but you. God is more interested in your character building - into being more like Jesus Christ. God wants you to be free. What's in your blind spot?
Let God heal your heart and allow the love of God to flow through it. Let God deal with the pain and the hurt you feel and learn to leave people to God. Vengeance is mine says the Lord, not yours. Watch Him cause your enemies to be at peace with you but first, you need to release that hurt and that pain from your heart and allow the love of God to flow.
Shalom.
