The Ruta Provincial N. 20, also known as Ruta del Desierto, is a route that borders the provinces of La Pampa and Rio Negro in the Argentine Republic.

Its main characteristics are its length (almost 400 hms) and the way it is laid out: there are only three curves in its entire route.

This makes it extremely monotonous and prone to numerous accidents due to the famous "sleep stroke", that drowsiness that the traveller suffers when the whole landscape is uniform. A huge straight line that never seems to end.

And one of the meteorological phenomena worth admiring is the formation of violent storms, especially at sunset.

Darker and darker clouds begin to rise from the endless horizon until they completely cover the sky, which changes from a light colour with the last reflections of the sun to a totally dark and threatening shade.

These photos were taken by me in November this year when I was returning from visiting the Andean Region in Patagonia Argentina.
