Sherwood Green 1961 drop-top E-type
This was the car of my dreeam since childhood. As you can see it is an icon of an automobile. And with the drop top off and the wind blowing in your face and the engine humming could you really ask for anything more.
This car boasts front and rear suspension, disk brakes and 0-60 in seven seconds. But mostly its a beautiful car. If you can't take my word for it then listen to Enzo Farrai:
New Jaguar Car Has Top Speed Of 150 M.P.H. The Times, Wednesday, Mar 15, 1961; pg. 7; Issue 55030
It's a beautiful car based off of the Lemans winner this is the real toy.
What's under the hood?
It's a 6 cylinder XK120 black with 160bhp. I think this one is 3.8 liter and was increased to 4.2 liters in 1964 for more horse power as the world's fastest series production car.
In 1961 going for £2098. Today it will cost somewhere between £300-350,000. Ouch, that's gonna hurt.
Photo credits go to Steve Coogan for owning such a beautiful car:
