What do you consider the most important thing? I believe someone’s mind just told them wealth, another person’s mind just said God. Yeah, I get it. My bad. Let me rephrase. Aside from God, what do you consider the most important? So, I’ve had this question mulling in my mind for some time now.
It would have been easier to discuss with people around me, but for some reason, I think I already know what their answer will be, and that isn’t satisfying enough for me. Honestly, I’m a bit confused about what the right answer is. Why? Because, as a human, both wealth and peace of mind are very important. It will be much easier to go for peace of mind, but what if I go broke? Do I still have that peace of mind? You can choose wealth, but does every wealthy person have peace of mind? This is where the complications come in. So, I ask again, wealth or peace of mind?
There is this famous phrase that says, "There is no greater wealth in this world than peace of mind. Do you believe that? One way or the other, we are all wounded people dealing with messy emotions in a confusing and scary world, so what we believe at times depends on our current state of mind.
When we talk of wealth, it is important to remember that there is no limit to human desires, just as there is no limit to wealth and its manifestations. Everything is based on a simple principle: "the more you earn, the more you want". When you become overly involved in wealth creation, you are constantly driven by hard work, fatigue, apprehension, and competition. Finally, there comes a point when anxiety and competition are no longer relevant. Suddenly, you realize that all you require is complete peace of mind. However, this beckons the question: can't you have it all? Wealth and peace of mind combined.
Wealth and peace of mind have a complicated relationship. I'll give you two examples. In the first, a man becomes wealthy by working night and day but has no time for family, friends, or loved ones. Such a man is bound to be troubled and tense. Yes, he is wealthy, but he does not have enough time for his loved ones. Worse yet, he has no time to enjoy his own wealth. Consider another man who works a simple job and has enough time to spend with loved ones but lacks enough wealth to live a luxurious life. Despite this, he appears to be happy and content and to be living a happy life. Understand this; money is a valuable asset that contributes to a man’s success in life, yet it doesn’t guarantee peace of mind.
Wealth & Peace of Mind are not Antagonistic
It is possible to build wealth while living a peaceful and happy life. This is due to the fact that being at peace is merely a state of mind, and anyone, regardless of their financial situation, can achieve it. Being at peace is determined by one's inner balance. You will be at peace with yourself once you feel comfortable in your mental state and situation.
Contentment is another factor that contributes to mental well-being. You will feel at peace if you are content with what you have. Otherwise, greed will drive you to chase materialistic desires indefinitely, leaving you worried. At this point, achieving peace of mine becomes much more difficult.
Build wealth without Losing Peace of Mind
Those energizing feelings with no room for tension, anxiety, or stress are the ideal state of mind. It is possible to accumulate wealth without losing one's peace of mind if one takes life one step at a time. The road requires you to not focus solely on one aspect of life. Build a healthy relationship, practice the art of gratitude, lend a helping hand when needed, meditate, and develop new hobbies while creating wealth. Thus, instead of being bothered by other people's opinions of you, focus on the blessings that life has bestowed upon you.
In conclusion, health is wealth, and you are only as healthy as your mind.
