POEM — Blurt

What If...?

What is all your wishes come to pass,

And all your dreams come to reality?

What if all your plans work out perfectly,

And you attain all your goals just as expected?

What if you never taste the bitterness of failure,

Or endure the draining wait of delay?

What if you never get discouraged from disappointment,

Or shed the tears of a painful betrayal.

What if life goes so smooth with no rough patches,

And you walk through life on a plain path?

What if life gets easy, fair and effortless,

Would you be able to handle all of it thus?

Wouldn't you become bored and unenthusiastic

Because there are no challenges to keep you

Exercising your innate abilities to strive

Through the storms that would make you strong?

The hardness and unfairness in life's struggle

Have in its natural way made us strong.

If life becomes so easy and fair as some wish

Wouldn't we become too passive and complacent?
