The alternative that became my first choice.
Supposedly, my wife will buy taro tubers or young unripe jackfruit for our lunch and I told her to buy a pouch of instant coconut milk concentrate as I crave for "ginataan" a kind of vegetable soup with coconut milk. But she said that our budget will run short and she will have to buy an extra pouch of taro tubers because a pouch will not be enough for us as this stuff have the tendency to shrink when cooked. So I told her to look for another stuff that she can cook with coconut milk and we found a vendor selling taro leaves and stem but unfortunately, the price did not meet our budget for the day so we looked for another one and we found a vendor selling chopped breadnut (Brosimum alicastrum) fruits, locally known here in the Philippines as "kamansi" and/or "pakak," that came from a tree related to bread fruits; jackfruits; durian and marang. So I told my wife to buy the stuff instead after we learn that price is right for our budget. As we are about to go home, we passed by at the stalls selling dried fish and she bought some salted dried anchovies and she lead me to the stall selling fresh coconut milk and she said that it is much better than the pouched instant coconut milk concentrate because it will make the dish more savory and before heading home, we bought some ginger and long pepper to give a spicy hint to the ginataan recipe.
To cut the story short, I am satisfied with this alternative because it met our budget for the day. Besides, we are able to buy the rest of the basic ingredients for the ginataan recipe without extra expenses
