Currently following modern cultivation methods in gourd cultivation; Farmers are benefiting besides increasing the yield.

Gourd yields more in winter. However, due to high altitude and high rainfall tolerance, cultivation of gourd can be done throughout the year.
()
However, according to the demand of any variety of gourd (long or round) in your area, gourd seeds should be sown.

()
Cultivation of the varieties that demand more gourds will be more profitable.
()

Now know some things you need to keep in mind before starting gourd cultivation.

Cultivation method of gourd
Upland soils with organic matter rich loam, clay or sandy loam are good for gourd cultivation.
()
As atel soil retains water, gourd cultivation in atel soil is good during the dry season.

The weather in Bangladesh is neither too cold nor too hot, which is more suitable for the cultivation of gourds.

Winter is best for gourd cultivation. However, for winter gourd cultivation, it is better to cultivate this vegetable first in winter.

()

In winter, the temperature is sometimes 100 celsius. Below this, it poses a serious threat to gourd cultivation. Temperature difference between day and night is 8-90 degrees.

Land and clay are ready
Land for gourd cultivation should be selected with adequate sunlight with irrigation and drainage facilities.

The land should be plowed 3-4 times and the soil should be loosened with mica for extensive growth of gourd plant roots. So that the roots can easily go far.

Extensive use of cow dung or organic manure in gourd cultivation gives good yields.

But it is better to apply them to the land before cultivation and make beds. Bed making and distance from bed to bed…

The height of the bed will be 15-20 cm.

The width of the bed shall be 2.5 meters and shall be taken according to the length of the long land.
In this way successive beds should be made.
60 cm between the 2 growths as well. There will be irrigation canals of diameter.
And every 2 beds there will be 30 cm wide drain only.
Maternal production and maternal distance
Mother size will be 50-55 cm in diameter. Depth 50-55 cm. And bottom 45-50 cm.
60 cm on the side of the bed. 60 cm from the edge of the bed where there will be wide irrigation and drainage channels. Apart from that, mada should be made in a row at 2 meter intervals along the center of the mada.
60 cm from the outer edge of one. shall be excluded, 60 cm from the same edge of the adjacent bed. With the exception of the center of the mother, the mother should be made according to the same rules.
Fertilizer quantity and application
Long-lived gourd plants produce crops over a longer period of time. For this, to get success in the cultivation of gourd, it is necessary to ensure the supply of sufficient food for the plant.

Among the recommended levels of fertilizers during land preparation for gourd cultivation, dung should be applied after cultivation and TSP, MP, gypsum and borax fertilizers should be applied during final cultivation.

After applying the recommended level of fertilizer for planting seedlings in the mother plant, the mother soil should be thoroughly soaked with water.

Then after 7-10 days when 'Joe' comes, seedlings should be planted.

200 grams of TSP + 100 grams of gypsum + 50 grams of MOP + (Zinc, Boron, Magnesium, Carbofuran can be given at the rate of 15-20 grams) per head. And it is better to give more cow dung or organic manure.

Gourd seedling preparation and sowing method
Gourd seeds can be sown directly in the ground. But it is better to sow after making seedlings.

Planting by making seedlings is safer, less time and higher yield.
()
First, keep the seeds in the sun for 2-1 hours and cool them in the shade. After that, keep it in water for 20-25 hours.

The last 10 minutes can be treated with carbendazim at 2 g/liter of water.

After that it is best to wrap the seeds in a warm cloth/bark chaat and wait for 2 days.

()

After two days the seeds burst and roots emerge, sow them carefully in polybags.

If there is no sap in the soil, water should be given little by little.

Mix 2 parts of Etel soil with 1 part of rotted dung in a polybag.

The excess water should be drained under the silt bag. Plants will emerge after 3 days of planting in polybags.
()
After 15-17 days of emergence, the seedlings will be ready for planting when 3-4 leaves appear.

The plants should be kept in ginger shade till planting.

2-3 seedlings or 3-4 seeds should be sown per female.

Later, 2-1 plants will be kept in Mada. If the land is dry, the seedlings should be planted and watered.

If there is a strong sun, the planted seedlings should be hidden from the sun with something.

If beetles come and eat the leaves, spray lightly with ash, kerosene+water, or cypermethrin/chlorpyrifos or cover with mosquito nets.

After 15 days, mix 2 kg urea and 1.5 kg MOP fertilizer (at this rate) and mix 2-3 handfuls per head at a distance of 6 inches from the base and mix it with the soil.

When the tree starts to take vines, the bush should be given a kanchi or a strong stick.

Gourd tree loft made
Cultivation of gourd in loft will get desired yield. And if cultivated in the soil, one side of the fruit becomes discolored and the market value is reduced, as a result of rotting and reduction of natural pollination, the yield also decreases.

The gourd tree is very heavy, so the loft must be reinforced so that it does not collapse under the weight.

Besides, it should be kept tight all around.

Caring for the gourd plant
Gourd needs more care to get more yield. As the gourd plant climbs, many succulent branches emerge from the base.

At the base of the gourd plant are small branches. They are called absorptive branches. They interfere with plant yield and proper physical growth. So these stems should be removed by cutting them with a sharp blade.

Proper pollination produces bountiful gourds. When the loft is full, the leaves of the tree can be cut and harvested again. But the leaves should be cut and sprayed with fungicide.
