I saw these blooming and wonderful creation while walking in a hillside portion of Minglanilla, Cebu Philippines. I was amazed, very happy and took some photos just to complete my day.
It is a Bougainvillea/s or we usually call it “Bombil” in Cebuano since I lived here in Cebu.
Bougainvillea is a tropical plant that can resists under the sun’s scorching heat.
These plants belongs to a genus of thorny ornamental vines and bushes. It is a climbing plant, common in hot countries like here in the Philippines. These flowers are surrounded by brightly colored papery bracts that persists on the plant for a long time.
While doing some researched, I found out, unlike other plants, bougainvilleas love and happy to grow in the ground or even in a large pots with good drainage. They are a drought resistant plant and requires a little amount of water once mature and well rooted.
It’s a wow for these heat resistant tropical plant especially we are experiencing a very intense heat here in the Philippines.
