Our height affects our overall self-perception, confidence, and success. Even with heeled shoes for both men and women, some jobs still require people to be taller than others. Our height also helps us appear more powerful and able, thus affecting our image.
Genetics played a considerable role in our height. And, studies said that most people stop growing after 18. Parents and guardians should know this so that they can maximize the growth of their kids before it is too late. Do you want to grow taller and maximize your growth years? Here are a few tips to increase your height.
Nutrition is vital to gain a few inches taller.
The kind of food we are feeding on is crucial in the growth of our bones and muscles. To grow taller, one must lead a healthy diet that consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and dairy products. While you increase your intake of these items, also refrain from eating sugary and fatty foods. Meanwhile, experts suggest eating more foods rich in calcium to increase bone density.
Always consult your doctor regarding the use of supplements.
Height-increasing supplements have gained traction in recent years. However, experts still strongly suggest that parents consult the supplements they give to their kids. Some kids may have problems regarding their human growth hormone (HGH) that over-the-counter supplements cannot address. And, only doctors will know the appropriate vitamins to address this problem.
Understand the importance of sleep in the growth of bones and muscles.
Getting more hours of sleep strongly affects the production of HGH hormones. Thus, if you want your teenager to grow taller, make sure they get enough rest and sleep. Aside from allowing them to maximize their height, getting enough rest will lead to fewer health complications in the long run.
So, how much sleep should we have? The amount of sleep we need may differ as we grow older. Newborns have to sleep for 14-17 hours per day to facilitate growth. On the other hand, kids 14-17 years old should ditch their electronic devices and sleep for eight to 10 hours.
