There's nothing wrong with budgeting and saving money. Even as a student, you have to learn these skills as these will be helpful lessons for you to overcome more challenging situations in the future.
There's nothing wrong with buying secondhand goodies.
Not all secondhand goods are of mediocre quality. When you go to a thrift shop or a local charity shop, you will be surprised to find many high-quality secondhand goods. Secondhand books, ornaments, clothes, and accessories are among the treasures that will surely interest you in these places.
Consider shopping a few hours before the shop closes.
Many shops usually decrease prices of food items hours before they close. They reduce the cost of vegetables, fruits, and other consumable items as they might have already reached their expiration date the next day and should be disposed of. Consider taking the opportunity and go to the shop a few hours before closing time to avail of these marked-down goodies.
Minimize eating out.
Eating out with friends may strengthen friendship bonds, but this activity may take a toll on your budget when done excessively. On regular days, consider cooking for yourself. Aside from saving lots of money, you can also guarantee that you are eating fresh and healthy food with your homecooked meals than takeaways.
Leave the credit card in your closet
Bringing your credit card everywhere you go will trigger you to overspend and rely on the idea that you can always pay later on. The best way to save money is to bring only cash and leave your credit card in your closet or any inconspicuous places in your house or dorm. Bringing cash will help you keep track of your spending, so you know where your money goes.
Spend time on free entertainment opportunities.
The good things in life are free, including free entertainment. Curb your spending on movies, parties, and clubs. A walk in the park, watching a free concert or going to a cinema that discounts students are still entertaining activities you should think about.
