Pregnancy can be a blessing or a curse. Among couples under a fertility program, spotting signs of pregnancy brings joy and contentment to the family. Meanwhile, teenagers, single women, or victims of rape may loathe experiencing the first month symptoms of pregnancy. If you suspect that you are pregnant, you may want to know these five early symptoms of pregnancy before you plan for your following action.
Delayed or a missed period
A potent and obvious sign of pregnancy is a missed period. When the egg cell meets the sperm, the body's hormone distribution will change, causing changes in the uterus and the discontinuation of ovulation. Meanwhile, factors such as stress, high levels of exercise, and hormonal imbalance may make you miss or skip your period. Thus, you should check if you are genuinely pregnant using a pregnancy test kit.
Increased trips to the toilet
This symptom may occur before you miss your period due to the increase of blood supply in your body when you get pregnant. When this happens, your kidney will have to work harder filtering your blood and excrete extra waste; thus, you need to urinate more than usual.
Unusual Fatigue and Lethargy
Unexplained tiredness and lethargy happen among pregnant women due to the body's increased production of progesterone. However, this lethargy is just a phase, and pregnant women may regain strength in their second or third trimester.
Nausea
We often call it morning sickness. However, nausea among pregnant women can happen any time of the day. This symptom can start as early as the second week of pregnancy or on the first few months of conceiving the baby. Just make sure to take in enough fluids and food to avoid dehydration or the extreme level of nausea called hyperemesis gravidarum.
Enlarged Breasts
Developing enlarged and sore breasts is part of the hormonal changes during pregnancy. One may notice that the breasts will become tender, and the nipples will become darker and more prominent. Meanwhile, women should not worry about the soreness because the pain will fade when the body already had adjusted to the new levels of hormones.
