Hello everyone!
Do you grow and know of Health Benefits of Nasturtiums? ( Tropaeolum majus)
They originate from South America and were introduced to Europe in the 17th Century.
They grow easily from large seeds and self seed year after year once established in your garden. The best part is that all parts of the plant are edible.( I love to grow edibles in the garden as much as possible, trying to choose edible or medicinal flowers rather than just ornamentals.)
The flowers make a beautiful addition to salads. They are rich in Vitamin C and various minerals such as potassium , magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, calcium and zinc. It also has antimicrobial properties.
The large seeds can be collected and preserved in brine and are known as Poor Mans Capers. I have made these in the past and there are similar to capers which I also love!
As a flower essence, Nasturtium brings balance to people stressed and anxious and overworked mentally. Exam candidates find it useful to take a few drops on exam days to bring a sense of order and calm to an overactive, edgy mind.
It is said to connect the head and the heart with overly intellectual types who become separated from their emotions.
Even if you don't consider yourself a gardener these are extremely easy to grow so grab yourself a pack of seeds and start throwing them around outside your house. They will grow.
Thanks for stopping by, I wish you the best day possible.
