It’s been a very long hot and dry August and the apples are starting to fall already.
We have a few Empire and Golden delicious Apple Trees in the yard and thousands of apples. Not all of them are completely ripe. They are “organic” since we don’t spray anything on them. What do you do with thousands of falling apples ?
For the last few years we started collecting them into Bushels (126 apples) and selling as Deer/ Horse apples on Kijiji… it’s a good late summer job for the kids. They count them, weigh them and then sell them for $10 per bushel.
We get a lot of bushels … hundreds of them.
Who says money doesn’t grow on trees ? It’s great exercise too. You just have to keep a look out for the hornets and wasps who also love the sweet sugary apple treats.
