Did you know there is an area in India which is like the Napa Valley of India?
Nashik is about a 4 hour drive from Mumbai. The weather is much cooler and feels more of mountains in this valley. I understand that there are some other tourist sites like temples and the river but we mainly came for the wine and I will share that experience today.
This was part of a trip that I took in 2016 I met my mom and sister there and we met my sister's husbands family there. We all went together in a bus and stayed a few nights. We went directly to our hotel the first evening GP Farms and Hotel. They sell grapes to many of the vinyards in the area and also run what they call a "Modest Resort."
One of the reasons why grapes do well in this area is it is quite cool especially at night and this was true for our stay we had no use for the pool while we were there.
When you enter the resort you go down this long tree lined path with grape fields on either side, before reaching the hotel.
From the rooms you get a view of a sea of green some of the neighboring vineyards and some mountains in the distance.
When we visited there were a lot of plump green grapes on the vines.
Around the property there was some nice Hindu imagery, as seen in in this planter.
The area where our rooms were had a nice indoor/outdoor space on the second level giving some great views of the area.
Another view of the farms and mountains in the distance. The scenery kind of reminded me of where I grew up in Eastern Oregon, and south east Washington wine country around Walla Walla.
Family meals were always amazing the food was very good.
There was a small Hindu shrine on the property.
The lighting of the tandori oven was quite spectacular and of course the naan was very good and fresh.
We ventured out one day to a Vineyard and winery that has made some waves in the region and have won some international awards, Sula Vineyards.
The vineyard had a restaurant on the second floor rooftop offering a great view over the fields and area.
The place had a very modern hip and trendy vibe.
The tasting room had windows that looked down into it from the upper floor.
We eventually went and did a tasting and and a tour of the wine making facilities. The wine was very tasty and had great colorful bottles.
This is just one of the many barrel rooms with wine finishing off getting ready for drinkers.
It was night by the time we left after a great experience. I think I got a few bottles of wine to take back to Ghana.
We also visited a Minerals and Rare stones museum that is world famous called Gargoti Mineral Museum. It has a large selection of stones and sculptures from stones.
Before leaving Nashik back to Mumbai we visited some family friends of inlaws. They lived in a nice residential neighborhood and I loved the gates as seen below.
Thanks for taking another adventure with me.

In India we entered the new year 2022 so
Many many good and happy new year 2022
@tariqueshafique from India
Happy new year. Thanks for stopping by.
Seems like you have spend a very interesting time period there. In Sri Lanka we can see green grapes only in Jaffna as far as I know.
This is the first time I see this kind of mineral museum. The stones which are shows in photo are very attractive.
Do they make wine from there?
They do but within local context. The crops are enough to full fill local demad of grapes. I too love grapes!
Wine is indeed very sweet, it is not even surprising if the price is very even.
Unbelievable for a country known as the production of such wines. 🤗🤗🥰🥰
Yes the wine was good and a great price.
🥰🥰🤗🤗
