Background of the Liberation War:

After the partition of the country in 1947, Bengal became a part of Pakistan called 'East Pakistan'. But the West Pakistani ruling class through their misrule, oppression and deprivation turned this country into a colony of Pakistan. Even the Pakistani dictator is trying to silence us by declaring Urdu as the state language.
But the students of this country erupted in protest at such an announcement. In order to suppress them, the then ruling party issued section 144 on February 21, 1952 and the language-loving students of this country came down the road violating section 144 at the risk of their lives. Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and many others were killed in the police firing. The news of the death created a violent movement in the whole country. As a result, Pakistanis were forced to give Bengali the status of state language. This was followed by the education movement in 1962, the six-point movement in 1966 and the mass movement in 1969. In 1970, General Yahya Khan announced the election of the National and Provincial Councils. The Awami League participated in the elections on the basis of 11 points and East Pakistan gained a majority in both the councils. But the ruling party panicked at the victory of the Awami League and started delaying the transfer of power. This led to a storm of protests and demonstrations across the country.

March 7 speech:

After the Awami League won the National Assembly elections in Pakistan in 1970, the situation became heated as it did not hand over power. In such a situation, the President of Pakistan, General Yahya Khan, convened a session of the National Assembly on March 3, but unexpectedly postponed it to March 1 indefinitely. Upon hearing this news, the people of East Pakistan erupted in protest. Finally, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman addressed a public meeting on March 7 at Dhaka Racecourse Maidan (now Sehrawardy Udyan). He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important for Iraq. His speech was the complete direction of the liberation struggle of the nation. So he said, "The enemy will fight with whatever they have."

Declaration of Independence:

After Bangabandhu's 7th March, the movement of freedom-loving people became more rapid! When the Yahya-Mujib meeting on March 24 failed, the Pakistani military carried out a massacre of unarmed Bengalis in the middle of the night on March 25. On the night of March 25, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested and taken to Karachi. Arrested by Pakistani soldiers. Before the air, that is, in the early morning of March 26, Bangabandhu declared the independence of Bangladesh. Chittagong's Awami League leader MA Hannan broadcast it on Chittagong Betar at noon on March 26 to inform the people of Bangabandhu's proclamation. Later, on the evening of 26 March, Major Ziaur Rahman read out another declaration of independence on behalf of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the Swadhin Bangla Temporary Radio Station at Kalurghat, Chittagong.

Formation of the Government of the People's Republic:

The Provisional Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was formed on 10 April 1971. On 18 April, the 'Provisional Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh' was officially sworn in at Baidyanathtala, Meherpur, Mujibnagar. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was appointed President. The caretaker President is Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam. Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed, Foreign Minister Khandaker Mashtak Ahmed, Finance Minister M Mansur Ali and Home Minister AHM Kamruzzaman. An advisory council of 9 members was formed. Colonel M. A. G. Osmani was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief

Liberation War Organization and Management:

On the night of 25th March, after the Pakistani aggressors attacked the Bengalis, various resistance attacks were organized in different places. But after the caretaker government of Bangladesh took over, they took initiative to conduct the war of liberation in an organized and planned manner. At this time the whole of Bangladesh was divided into 11 sectors and in each sector the Mukti Bahini under the leadership of a commander launched an attack on the Pakistan army and started a frontal battle. Again, many who fled to India due to the oppression of the Pakistan army came to the country with training and started guerrilla attacks. The people of the country help the freedom fighters in various ways. As a result, the liberation struggle was transformed into a people's war. And thus the Pakistani forces began to be humiliated by the attack of the freedom fighters.

Foreign Aid-Assistance in the War of Liberation:

Several foreign countries and various sociology-cultural organizations played a positive role in the liberation war of Bangladesh. About one crore Bengalis took refuge in India due to the oppression of Pakistan army. The Indian government helped these refugees with food, clothes and medicine. The governments and peoples of the Eastern European countries, including the Russian government, support Bangladesh and form a public opinion against the torture and killing of Pakistan troops worldwide. At that time, the United States and China, two superpowers, took a stand against Bangladesh, but their people declared their solidarity with the just demands of the people of Bangladesh. Eventually, with the help of foreign aid and the relentless efforts of the freedom fighters, Bangladesh became independent in nine months.

Joint attack by Mukti Bahini and Allied forces:

On 21 November 1971, the Government of Bangladesh and India formed a joint force. When Pakistan declared war on India on 3rd December, the Mukti Bahini and Indian forces started fighting against the invaders jointly. On December 7, India officially recognized Bangladesh. Due to the strong attack of the joint forces, all the planes of the Pak army crashed in Bengal by 12th December. Thus, in a joint attack of the Mukti Bahini and the Allied forces, various areas of East Bengal were liberated by 13th December.

Surrender and final victory of Pakistan army:

On 14th December, the joint forces were located only 14 km away from Dhaka. General Niazi surrendered to the Joint Command at Sahehrawardy Udyan with his 94,000 troops and weapons. And thus the final victory of Bangladesh was signaled.

Conclusion:

Bangladesh's independence is not a matter of fragmented isolated dreams or picked up corners. An unrivaled invincible consciousness with a united life effort, reunion, real feelings of hope and despair; Thirty long-suffering people have been included in the map of the world in exchange for the sacrifices and respect of two lakh mothers and fathers. And we got a new and independent territory called Bangladesh with green flag.

Achieving victory through the great liberation war of 1971 and armed struggle in the course of thousands of years of history of the Bengali nation. The most important chapter. The liberation struggle of Bengalis started on March 26, 1971 in the face of the brutal brutality of the Pakistani aggressors. The successful outcome and completion of the long struggle came on 16th December of that year. On this day, the war of liberation came to an end when the Pakistani aggressors surrendered unconditionally. Bangladesh is an independent country on the world map.
