After two years of waiting, Apple finally approved BlurtKey to be published on the App Store!
As mentioned in my last development post (albeit around two years ago) related to BlurtKey, there were several critical issues that needed to be addressed before re-submitting the app.
- Guideline 3.1.5 - Business - Payments - Cryptocurrencies
- Guideline 3.1.1 - Business - Payments - In-App Purchase
First, since BlurtKey handles cryptocurrencies, Apple required the app to be published under an organization account and not under an individual developer account.
Around May 2023, I and the team were considering two options to address this:
- One was to put up or register a new company or business;
- Or, publish it under an existing Apple Organization account
We were already in the process of registering a new company with @megadrive already provisioning the stable coin budget for it when @megadrive invited @nalexadre to be part of the group that will have shares in the company.
However, it turned out that @nalexadre already has an existing company registered in the Apple's Developer program. (Having an organization account registered under Apple's Developer program usually takes weeks to get approved). And the rest is history.
The second critical issue that needed to be addressed was the handling of account creation to be as in-app purchase. In the previous submission, the account creation page directed users to https://joinblocks.org/blurt to purchase or create accounts. In the latest build that Apple approved, the "New Account" button is no longer there.
So far, here's the list of working functions.
- In-App Browser
- Login
- Upvote
- Explore Tab (dApps Page)
- History Tab
- Favorites Tab
1. Codes
2. App Demo
Here's a demo from an iOS device.
3. Download Links
4. Special Thanks
Again, big thanks to all who have made this possible: @megadrive, @nalexadre, @saboin, @sagarkothari88
And to other Blurt members and community for approving the now defunct DAO funding for it.
