Hi everyone.. "Uwanderer" here.. I would like to invite you for another backing journey heading to one of the adventure destination in the northern part of the visayas group of island.
We will be traveling to Antique Island. Antique Island is also known as the gateway to another tourist destination which is Boracay island. But folks, sorry to make you disappoint you, but we will not be proceeding to Bora-Bora Island, we will be exploring the unseen part of the antique island dubbed as hidden gem not known to many, and that hidden gem is none other than "Malalison Island".
Malalison Island is an small island part of Culasi. In order to reach Culasi you need to take a 2-3 hours bus ride from the central Antique. The bus from the central antique will take you to the bus stop near the boat port heading to the island. During your bus ride you will be entertain with marvelous lush green sites, instagramable views, and the province ambiance. As you head to the port side, you will need to rent a boat to access the beauty of the hidden Island. It will take around one hour boat ride from the main island of Antique to Malalison Island.
Upon arriving the island, you will be greeted by an islet filled with powdery sand beach shore which is the main docking area for tourist and island visitors. The locals in the island will joyfully welcomed you with home made delectable goodies, while others will offer your snorkeling gears, and the remaining locals will offer you trekking guide services to explore the peaks of the island.
Now folks, our main goal and objective for this backpacking journey is to see the its summit and enjoy the picturesque view the island could offer. And that my friend is where we will be going at.
Trekking to the summit of the island will take you around 1 hour for those who are physically fit, but for those who are not they need to prepare themselves for a 1-2 hours hike. Also, gentle reminder its an open trail. There are no trees for shelter when you basking from the strong rays of the sun. So better prepare yourself with water bottle and extra shirts as you will get sweaty up there. I would not suggest bringing with you an umbrella as the strong wind will brush your umbrella away from you.
To give you more insights of the island please see the pics below.
