Comet fragments fall to Earth, threatening to destroy all life. The only safe place is a secret underground bunker in Greenland. It turns out that the US government has long been prepared for the coming disaster and even compiled a list of the elite who will be allowed to enter the shelters. Civil engineer John (Gerard Butler) tries to save his family and embarks on a perilous journey amid the devastation of comet impacts and panic-stricken people.
