in Argentine lands, a good globetrotter that I am.

Today I want to tell you about my youth spent in Italian lands.

I lived in Italy between 18 and 25 years old spending that part of life that is a mix of dreams, fantasies and future vision.

Anteriormente había hecho mención a mi niñez y a mi adolescencia en tierras argentinas, de buen trotamundos que soy.

Hoy les quiero hablar de mi juventud transcurrida en tierras italianas.

Viví en Italia entre los 18 y los 25 años transcurriendo esa parte de la vida que es un mix de sueños, fantasías y visión de futuro.

From one side to the other I ended up getting to know most of the towns that make up the so-called Gulf of Tigullio and that go from where Genova ends to where the Five Lands begin.

Places of natural beauty that does not admit comparisons. True paradises of nature.

Coast, cliffs several meters above sea level, and two steps from the mountains not very high but true mountain ranges such as the Appenidos that cross Italy from North Asur.

The Alps, on the contrary, cross it from West to East and mark the border with other nations such as France, Switzerland, Austria and part of the ex-Yogoslavia today called Slovenia.

I remember very much Santa Margherita Ligure, known as the Pearl of Tigullio, the place where I spent most of my Italian stay.

De un lado para otro terminé por conocer la mayoría de los pueblos que forman el llamado Golfo del Tigullio y que van desde donde termina Genova hasta donde comienzan las Cinco Tierras /Cinqueterre).

Lugares de una belleza natural que no admite comparaciones. Verdaderos paraísos de la naturaleza.

Costa, acantilados varios metros sobre el nivel del mar, y a dos pasos las montañas no muy altas pero verdaderos cordones montañosos como son los Apeninos que atraviesan Italia de Norte a Sur.

Los Alpes, por el contrario, la atraviesan de Oeste a Este y marcan el confín con otras naciones como Francia, Suiza, Austria y parte de la ex-Yugoslavia hoy llamada Eslovenia.

Recuerdo mucho a Santa Margarita Ligure, conocida como la Perla del Tigullio, el lugar donde pasé la mayor parte de mi estadìa italiana.

Former fishing village, today it has been transformed into an elegant summer resort for celebrities who make their walks through the coastal avenue where the square with the monument to Christopher Columbus is pointing the finger towards America.

It has beautiful buildings with liberty architecture.

In reality, its tourist expansion is not new. It was already used by the ancient Romans for that purpose.

What has catapulted her internationally is the fact that she is continually visited by stars of the international jet set who dock their yachts in the small, privileged and expensive port.

Antiguo pueblo de pescadores hoy ha sido transformado en un elegante lugar de veraneo para los famosos que hacen sus paseos a través de la avenida costanera donde está la plaza con el monumento a Cristóbal Colón apuntando con el dedo hacia América.

Tiene hermosos edficios con arquitectura liberty.

En realidad su expansión turística no es nueva. Ya era usada por los antiguos romanos con ese fin.

Lo que la ha catapultada a nivel internacional es el hecho de ser visitada continuamente por estrellas del jet set internacional que atracan sus yachts en el pequeño, privilegiado y costoso puerto.

The port is also equipped with structures for disembarking cruise passengers especially during the summer.

In spring and autumn the port is host to prestigious sailing regattas.

I remember the bars and restaurants full of tourists and which I watched from the outside because I could not enter, much less consume considering the prices.

A statue with raised arms adorns this part of the city. It is Santa María de Antioquia.

El puerto también está equipado con estructuras para el desembarco de pasajeros de cruceros especialmente durante el verano.

En primavera y otoño el puerto es sede de prestigiosas regatas de vela.

Recuerdo los bares y restaurantes llenos de turistas y a los cuales observaba desde afuera porque no podia entrar y mucho menos consumir considerando los precios.

Una estatua con los brazos levantados adorna esta parte de la ciudad. Es Santa María de Antioquia.

I also remember our excursions to the old fort built in the Middle Ages to protect the Replica of Genoa from attack by the Turks. Especially from Saladino, the scourge of the Mediterranean Sea at that time.

Summers in Santa Margarita Ligure are short, hot, muggy and mostly clear.

And winters are long, cold, and partly cloudy.

También recuerdo nuestras excursiones al viejo fuerte construído en la Edad Media para proteger a la República de Génova del ataque de los turcos. En especial de Saladino, el azote del Mar Mediterráneo en esa época.

En Santa Margarita Ligure los veranos son cortos, calientes, bochornosos y mayormente despejados.

Y los inviernos son largos, fríos y parcialmente nublados.
