The Branded Imperial (Eooxylides Tharis)

in blurtography •  3 years ago

The branded imperial (Eooxylides tharis) is a species of butterfly in the genus Eooxylides belonging to the Lycaenidae family, first described by Carl Geyer in 1837.

Characteristically and physically, the branded imperial is very similar to its relative, the plains Cupid (Luthrodes pandava). Both species have tufts on the underside of their wings, only that the branded imperial is longer. The branded imperial has a dominant orange color on its wings, with head, legs, and white abdomen.
