Alive and Thriving

Ready to take on the new year. Happens every year, we set our goals and we do our best to achieve them. This year I want to liquidate and optimize my assets. I have a lot of "treasure" stored up, things that are not junk, but are worthless when not being used and loose value over time. One of my goals this year is to get valuable clutter out of the house. Then I can take the cash tithe and use it for alms.

Storing Up Treasure In Heaven

We're commanded to not store up treasure on earth, but to seek the Reign of Heaven and the righteousness of God first, then all those things that the heathen seek after will be provided. We're instructed:

If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Matthew 19:31

Treating 2022 as "The Year of the Tithe"

We don't know exactly which year is the year of the tithe, and of course it's not according to the secular year - but in practicing living a biblical lifestyle, I'm practicing this commandment for myself and my family:

  • First, the commandment of Yeshua "Go and sell your possessions"
  • Then "the money" as in "lay aside a tenth of all you produce"
  • Then "give to the poor" as in "give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow",
  • Then proclaim "I have removed from my house the sacred portion according to all the commandments"
  • And finally "have treasure in Heaven"

When you have finished laying aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you are to give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat and be filled within your gates. Then you shall declare in the presence of the LORD your God, “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all the commandments You have given me. Deuteronomy 26:12

Every Resolution is Easier Said Than Done

The clock is ticking, today is January 1st. As long as I'm ALIVE and thriving, I should be striving towards this goal for 2022. This is practice for the day when the proper "year of the tithe" can be observed in the inheritance.

There's lots to sell, clutter to declutter. Also home projects that need funding. Turning useless treasure into something useful for someone else and cash that is useful for my family, is a worthwhile pursuit, especially as it generates alms for the poor.

There is blessings in obedience and diligent acts of faith. This project will take some faith! All to Bless the Most High, may His glorious Name be exulted among the nations!
