Japanese auto makers are threatened with production cuts Due to a fire at a large semiconductor factory, many concerns may lose components for several months in advance, Nikkei reports.

The fire damaged the Renesas Electronics plant, which is located in the northeast of the country in the city of Hitatinaka. It takes at least 4/5 months to restore production capacity. For this reason, many automobile concerns cannot continue with the planned production of cars.

It is known that such major brands as Toyota and Nissan are already studying this problem and are looking for possible solutions in the very near future. According to experts, in April / June 2021, the car market may miss 1.6 million units of cars.
