...We have lots of scorpions running around outside our house, living under stones and bits of wood - so gotta be a bit careful when moving stuff in the garden.
I quite like 'em actually - but they're nothing like the ones we're talking about here (the ones outside are honest).

Authoritarians like it when people laugh on queue.
Authoritarians love a well trained studio audience ... or better yet a properly moderated canned laughter.
Biographies of dictators indicate that most dictators had a sharp sense of humor.
Of course, being authoritarians, they seek to control which memes are considered funny and which groups one can ridicule.
Dictators can be 'frogs' - i.e benevolent ....(the preferred political state of affairs in my opinion).
This is why 'benevolent dictators' (kings and their equivalents) allowed for court jesters to be par t of proceedings - to take the piss out of them.
(and no problem with satire at their expense in the theaters etc) .
No insecurity (the frog state, or 'master morality' in Nietzsche's terms), with the self recognition of them being human and being able to laugh at themselves (love) - even if all powerful at the same time.
The collectivist commies are the opposite - ALL insecurity, and fear. (no love)...'slave morality'...
