Rallies in support of women political prisoners ended this weekend in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The participants lined up in chains of solidarity, holding a white ribbon, flowers and hearts.
In Moscow, the action took place on Old Arbat near the monument to Alexander Pushkin and Natalia Goncharova. According to the MBH media journalists' calculations, about 300 people took part in it. The activists were given coffee and flowers.
In St. Petersburg, activists met at the monument to victims of political repression on Voskresenskaya Embankment. According to The Paper, more than 70 people took part in the action. They read Anna Akhmatova's poem "Requiem," and at the end they laid flowers at the monument.
Surprisingly, despite the fact that both rallies were not coordinated with the authorities, they ended without detention.
